This page explains browser storage actually used by the app. We do not use a consent prompt to enable tracking tools that are not present.
Cookies and local storage
The app code sets no tracking cookies of its own. After an explicit save action on the preferences page, it uses localStorage under norway90:cookie-preferences:v1. This holds the version, time and necessary-only choice. It is local storage, not a cookie sent with every request.
When you select a light or dark theme in the footer, the choice is stored locally under norway90:theme until you change it or clear site data. Without a saved theme choice, the site follows your device setting. The theme choice only controls appearance and is not sent to the server. The clear button on the cookie preferences page only removes the cookie preference.
Purpose and lifetime
The preference only remembers and displays the choice you asked us to save. It is not stored before you select save and is treated as expired after at most 12 months. Clear it on the preferences page or by deleting site data in your browser. Language and search are URL parameters, not stored tracking preferences.
Analytics, advertising and third parties
Analytics and marketing tools are not integrated and cannot be enabled in the preference panel. Wikimedia images and publisher links involve other services; their storage and rules are not controlled by this panel. Your browser settings also apply. Any necessary storage used by a production provider must be assessed when that provider is chosen.
If practices change
Before non-essential storage or device access is introduced, its purpose, provider, data and duration must be described and required consent obtained. Choosing necessary-only features is not advance consent to future analytics or advertising.
